Love this distinction.

Boundaries, for me, fall into the larger category of Sovereignty, which says, "I am in charge of how MY energy gets used. It perforce involves responsibility--the ability to respond (which is where the flexibility part comes in)--and an acknowledgment of one's own choices. And, the flip side of Sovereignty is acknowledging that others are in charge of how they use their own energy, are responsible for their choices, and are allowed to have boundaries. If I am fully embodied, I can relate to the fact that people make different choices than I do, I don't necessarily need them to agree with me, in order for me to feel wholly myself. I have found this dual dynamic oddly challenging. I seem to be better at allowing others their choices than allowing myself my choices when they don't agree with the Other's.
