I know big pharma has played a major role in this, but clearly they aren't solely responsible. I've read some of Jennifer Bilek's articles, so I'm aware of financiers like Martine Rothblatt and their ideological motivations. But I feel like there's a bigger agenda at play.
I think a look at how the DSM has changed over time would also be very illustrative of why it should be looked at with skepticism. "Gender Dysphoria" is a good example, because what that document had to say about it in past versions has changed, has it not?
This reminds me of the mass medicalization of children with "ADHD" in the 1980s.
