My response to Vox article by Rachel Cohen Booth. She believes that “trans rights are under attack” and that “Democrats are getting caught flatfooted, as they’re still debating how to address wedge issues.”
In my response, I observe that the national impact of self id on women’s sex based rights is not a “wedge issue.” Wherever gender identity has been put into law it’s at direct odds with the sex based safeguarding protections of women and girls.
The laws that previously went into effect that are now being dismantled should never have existed. Laws that protect personal identities and supplant sex based safeguarding are harmful. Further it is not the responsibility of the rest of the public to be forced to legally participate in anyone else’s private identity issues.
Lastly, journalists like Cohen Booth who frame all dissent as right wing extremists are politically motivated and dishonest. Failure to seek out comments and criticism from liberal and feminist voices is irresponsible and harmful.
At the end of the day, Cohen Booth’s title remains true, the tides are turning. All intelligent moral people are now seeing the dangerous impacts of self id policies against women, children, and parental rights.
