The intuition is an inner resource we all have that is our most primal guide to be in touch with ourselves and the world around us. Modern science and industry are so advanced when it comes to the creation of external technologies like computers and iphones, but much less has been studied about our inner technologies.
The intuition is a capacity that all humans have, although little is formally taught about it in public education or academia. It is often a word used when talking about "new age" spirituality. But it is so much more than a flowery words, it is a formidable tool and skill when it comes to internal authority, integrity, and safeguarding. It is our touchstone for self-trust, and thus integral to learning to know who we can trust in the world around us.
This course will also be an exploration of the imagination as a practical skill that aids in the development of intuition. This 10-week course will be part lecture, part activity, and part discussion. The course offers opportunities for personal exploration and skill-building in deepening one's connection with their own intuition.
Each week I will provide PDFs of different readings that provide context on the intuition from scientific, spiritual, psychological, and artistic perspectives. Each week will also offer a creative activity to "practice" flexing the muscle of intuition.
This 14 week course will explore the book WOMEN WHO RUN WITH THE WOLVES. Each chapter will be explored, drawing on the writing of Clarissa Pinkola Estes as well as other source material to illuminate the lessons within the text.
This book focuses on women's instincts & intuition through the medium of stories, myths, and fairytales that each explore a facet of the Wild Woman archetype.
This course is part lecture, part interactive. I'm so excited to offer this course in which the approach to the material is not just intellectual analysis, but an embodied practice of engaging in intuition through imaginal awareness. While this book was written in the 90's it is urgent for our times.
Women find ourselves in a place in which the very words we have to describe our embodied experience are being turned into a conceptual identity that anyone of any sex can claim. We are being compartmentalized, sectionalized, & commodified and told to refer to ourselves as birthing bodies, vulva owners, bleeders, breeders, & chest feeders. This book is an antidote and remedy to the kind of thinking which turns a woman's wholeness into an abstract concept. This book offers a way of re-membering, and re-discovering a woman's embodied, intuitive, and instinctual self.
The understandings of this book are deepened by coming to discuss the values of intuition & instincts in community. This course will be a place for women to reflect on the material by sharing their own stories, experiences, & wisdom.
In The Gift of Fear, safeguarding expert Gavin de Becker says of intuition, “intuition connects us to the natural world and to our nature. Freed from the bonds of judgment, married only to perception, it carries us to predictions we will later marvel at.” The gifts of intuition are women's birthright. The intuition is a capacity that we all have, although it is one that is culturally devalued. This course offers a way to come to a deeper understanding of intuition as well as practical tools to be able to develop one's personal intuition as a capacity.
